The Alien
As his name suggest, Marvin came from the planet Mars. Among the other Warner Bros. villains, Marvin the Martian is the least noisy and is a very self-spoken extraterrestrial creature. Although having the conventional funny character of most cartoon villains, Marvin was quite different in a way that his actions can be described as being of greater evil and more cunning than others. He considers himself as a more intelligent being than humans too. On his initial film, Marvin appeared to be apathetic with regards to the well being of human life-forms and even wanted to blow the planet Earth into intangible pieces. The Master Marvin is born to be a commander and is a firm master to his apprentices. He is often accompanied by his green, lovable, gullible yet faithful sidekick – commander K-9. Aside from his dog, Marvin also has servants called “Instant Martians”. They are green chicken-like space creatures that grow when one adds water to them. They may be many in number but Bugs Bunny always finds a way to consistently outwit the Instant Martians. On the movie Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century, Marvin also had an assistant named Gossamer – a hairy orange beast with a heart-shaped face. The Mentor Did you know that Marvin also has a female version and apprentice? Her name is Marcia the Martian. She also has the same black sphere face like Marvin and has an orange-red hair with a purple dress and a pink skirt with matching purple and cone-shaped hat with a ribbon on its tip. However, Marcia was not as popular as Marvin and has only very few appearances. The Space Pilot Marvin seems to be very good at flying spaceships. His primary vehicle is a rocket-like, yellowish spaceship called the Martian Maggot. This ship is equipped with guns and explosives and thus making it combat-ready. As time went by, Marvin is seen to be flying newer version of spaceships. The Villain Marvin has been one of the main antagonist of Bugs Bunny specially in his early films. He is a very witty and dangerous opponent who possesses highly destructive weapons. However, Bugs Bunny always finds a way to outsmart him. He is also considered the archenemy of Daffy Duck in the popular Duck Dodgers series. Although stiff rivals, there were episodes where Marvin and Dodgers have teamed up and even managed to save each other’s lives. The Toddler Baby Marvin can be simply described as cute and lovable but also weird and too shy to converse with the other children. Despite being mocked by his fellow youngsters for being a little strange, the young Marvin was very helpful to them. Baby Taz was the first one to be his confidant. Thanks to Baby Marvin’s kindness, the other babies eventually made friends with him and even sang a song entitled “Oh where has my Martian Gone” where they came looking for him. The Loyal Lover Our Martian villain also has a heart that loves. He has a deep infatuation with Mars’ Empire Ruler, Queen Tyr'ahnee. The queen resembles an Egyptian royalty and is evidently very beautiful and attractive. She has the loyalty of Marvin and he would undeniably do anything for her. There was an episode where the Queen kissed Marvin on the cheeks after he rescued the queen from being a hostage and helped her regain her leadership. Marvin appeared to be very delighted and overwhelmed by this pleasant kiss yet Queen Tyr'ahnee seems to have displayed more attention and affection on Duck Dodgers because she thinks that Dodgers is heroic and courageous. The Cartoon Icon Although the Marvin the Martian character is more than half a century year old now and seems to have less frequent appearances compared to Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes stars, this little guy is still globally popular as evidenced by his many images imprinted on t-shirts, watches, slippers, wallpapers, shoes, hats and many other kinds of merchandises. He was even featured on the patch of the “Spirit”, a real and actual rover that was sent to Mars. Trivia:
